Marble
Marble results from the transformation of sedimentary rock, like limestone, by intense heat and pressure. This heat and pressure, whilst not melting the rock, causes a complete change in the structure. The characteristic swirls and veins of many colored marble varieties are due to minerals that were mobilized and recrystallized in the transformation.
